HELLO!! 👋🏽 We're back on social media after taking a little break to welcome our baby girl this summer. 😍

Here’s a quick update on what’s been happening…

First, a huge THANK YOU to the locals who have invested in the hotel. Your support is bringing this project to life, and our town is so grateful! ♥️

🥂 The foundation work for the hotel is FINISHED—ready to stand for centuries to come!

👏🏽 The elevator shaft is up to the third floor, and we’re ready to take it all the way to the rooftop when the time comes.

🥳 NOW we begin framing the new addition in the back! As you may have noticed, the old additions were demolished. They were pretty haphazard, so we decided a fresh start would be best. The new addition will be squared off and match the rest of the building with a beautiful brick exterior. We’re so excited!

What are you most looking forward to about Thyme Hotel?!

The “Thyme” Name Story 😍
Many of you have been curious about how we landed on the name for this iconic hotel in Millersburg. It's a story that goes back to last fall, before we even purchased the property.

Chris and I were driving in our truck, discussing potential names if we were successful in our bid. Inspired by other boutique hotels, we imagined naming each room after a theme. We both agreed that a plant-related theme would be perfect, especially considering Chris's upbringing on the farm with the greenhouses, now known as Smucker Gardens.

As we read through a list of herbs, we came across the herb 'thyme.' When we said it aloud, 'Thyme Hotel,' it just felt right. We loved the play on words, the timeless feel it evoked, and the rich uses of herbs, which range from flavor to medicinal to aromatic.

Our hope & prayer is that Thyme Hotel will bring a richness of flavor and a delightful aroma to our town and community, as well as a healing quality for all who experience its hospitality.

So there you have it - the story behind our name. We hope you find as much joy and inspiration in it as we do! 🌿

The blueprints have been finalized! Anyone notice the railing on the ROOF?!! That’s right! We plan to have a rooftop dining area! ☺️

Imagine the view of the Susquehanna River & setting sun from up there! 😍

Checkout the last picture & how we plan to make the back flow with the rest of the building. We are loving how everything is coming together. 🥰

Now we are just waiting on some permits & a few other details & then labor will resume on our beloved hotel! 👏🏽 Lots of work behind the scenes has been happening though - menu planning, style decisions, website building by Studio Ari Websites & more!

We are so honored to have this opportunity to restore such a cornerstone in our community and therefore bless our Valley & her people!

Want to help choose Thyme Hotel room names?!

Comment below your favorite herbs & flowers! 🌺 🌻🌿

Here’s the idea: each room will be named after an herb or flower & somehow have that plant incorporated into the room. Meaning, the actual plant might be in the room, a painting of the plant could be on the wall, the accent color throughout the room being the color of the bloom, or perhaps a light scent of the flower in the room.

RESTAURANT details (in word form).

📝 In case you missed the live on Sunday or didn’t have time to watch it all, here is the restaurant info written out!

The restaurant will be open to the public - it is not just for hotel guests. We want all of you to be able to enjoy the delicious food!

☕️ We will be serving breakfast & lunch to start out with an option for take out. Our hours will likely be 6am-2pm. We want to be able to serve all of you needing a strong cup of coffee & nourishing breakfast on your way to work!

Initially we will be open 6 days a week although we do hope to be open 7 days a week eventually. Dinner is also in the plans but further down the road.

An outside dining option is being worked on! Very excited about this! 👏🏽

The restaurant & hotel will absolutely be accessible. Everything will be up to code. We want be able to serve all people no matter their mode of movement. 🩷

The former bar room will now be the events room; approximately 440 sq. ft. You will be able to rent this space for bridal showers, baby showers, business meetings, etc! It will also double as an overflow dining room - for when you all pack out the place. 😉

We so look forward to giving you a wonderful experience!

HOTEL details (in word form).

📝 In case you missed the live on Sunday or didn’t have time to watch it all, here is the HOTEL info written out!

🪞The whole space will be decorated with vintage/antique pieces. Each room will be uniquely furnished - giving every guest their own individual experience. ✨

📸 Pictured below is the original lobby desk & stairs - we are excited for these beauties to shine in the newly restored space. Look how stunning the woodwork is!

🛁 We are going to have 17 rooms - 8 on the 2nd floor & 9 on the 3rd floor. Three rooms will have claw foot tubs & custom showers. Two of these suites will be in the turret corner of the building. 4 rooms will have 2 beds each in order to accommodate 4 people in one room.

We also want to be able to serve larger families so we are seeing if we can have one of the rooms have 4 beds to sleep a family of 8! 💕

🛏️ The beds will be queens & kings with a couple fulls possibly.

🪟The 3rd floor has original built in windows seats which will be so fun to incorporate into the rooms & make them super welcoming and comfy!

🧑🏻‍💻Our website will be up & running in the next couple months! Once it is up, you’ll be able to book dates for 2025 as well as submit your resume & application. We are super excited to be working with Studio Ari Websites.

Week SEVEN! Additions in the back are GONE?!!

As you can see in the first picture (or recall for yourself), the additions in the back had mismatch exteriors & the floors were not level on the second floor.

We plan to build one big addition across the back of the building. It will be all three floors & squared off. The exterior will be BRICK to match the rest of the building!

Can you imagine it?! It’s going to be grand! 😍

Hard to believe it is only week #7! It’s wild how much momentum this project has! Thank you, Chubb Construction!

There was a PAINTING behind the paneling!! 🤭 Look how lovely it is!! With some skilled restoration, it will be beyond stunning!

Does anyone know when it was installed or who painted it⁉️ Did any of you ever see it back before it was covered up❓

This hotel is such a treasure! 🤍

Week 5️⃣ : wow, wow, WOW 😮

First floor is demoed! Check out the brick & STONE walls inside 😍 We are thinking we will leave the brick & stone exposed on the first floor. What’s your vote?!

All three brick walls outside are officially done & looking so good ✅

🚨🚨🚨 We found something behind one of the walls on the first floor 🫣 🤩 Any guesses? Comment below!👇🏽 We will drop a reel of it later today. Stay tuned!!

Thank you again, Chubb Construction and Dan Smucker Masonry 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

WEEK 4 RECAP 🤯🤩😱
2nd floor demolition DONE! See before, during, & after 👏🏽

We found live edge wood slab walls! We definitely kept those boards to repurpose them in the hotel 👀

AND there is interior brick which means exposed brick in at least two of the rooms 😍

Thank you Chubb Construction for getting things done! You guys rock!
